Tory Lanez and ALL His Little Audacity!

That Dope Black Girl

Several months ago, we heard that Megan Thee Stallion was shot in her feet and had to undergo surgery to remove the bullets. What we also heard was that Tory Lanez was arrested that night for carrying a concealed weapon (gun). Initially nobody heard anything about what happened and I have no problem with that. I am a person who believes that celebrities don’t owe the world their personal selves. They are not REQUIRED to divulge the intimate details of their lives if they choose not to. However, people began their smear campaigns on both sides. The said that Tory shot Meg. They said Meg was at fault because she’s 5’11 and Tory is 5’3. They said it was the result of a domestic incident and that the two were lovers. All those theories and the only FACT we had is that this young woman sustained an injury and had to have surgery to have bullet fragments removed from her feet and that this young man was arrested at the same time for a gun charge.

A month later Hot Girl Meg told the world that Tory shot her. Tory chose not to speak out; perhaps it was due to the legal actions or just the fact that he didn’t want to speak out. Either way… that’s his business. However, yesterday Tory decided that he was ready to put his side of the story out and left a cryptic message on social media indicating he would address the situation last night. I wasn’t expecting the truth because I don’t think either of them is going to tell the truth 100% and I also know how perspective skews the truth.

Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning and The Shade Room was buzzing about the album Tory Lanez dropped last night addressing the incident and denying that he shot Meg. I take NO issue with this man defending himself or telling his side of the story. This post is not to condemn anyone for telling their version of the truth because everyone has that right.

What I DO have a problem with is the fact that this adult male decided to put out an album in an effort to monetize this situation and capitalize off the trauma this woman experienced. Whether he did it or not, as a male you have to have more than the audacity to think that you can take SOMEONE ELSE’S trauma to try to get streams and sales. Like…. How dare you? How arrogant can you be to feel like you have the right to profit off someone else’s pain? If he felt the need to discuss how he has been impacted by what happened then that is his business and right but to question the validity of this woman’s pain, trauma and personal struggle is vile and quite disgusting.

From a marketing point of view, it was a move that was brilliant but from a humane point of view, it really speaks to the lack of values this man has. I found Tory Lanez to be arrogant, disrespectful and not the type of person I would support way before this situation. However, this situation has opened my eyes to the way Black people value each other and baby we have a lot of work to do! This is merely an opinion piece and I recognize that opinions are like assholes and here’s mine… Tory Lanez is a trash ass coward.
